Do you Want To Make Weed Edibles? Here Are 6 Tips.

You’re going to need these tips – especially if you’re just starting out so bookmark this page and let’s get cooking!

The first thing you should know is that worrying won’t get you anywhere.

If you know how to follow directions, you’ve got an oven, cooking utensils, and time – then you can make weed edibles easily.

Whether you’re learning for medicinal purposes or recreationally, these tips are stand up, precise and helpful.

Read on to learn some of the best edible tips in the industry from professionals in the ‘weed-world’.

1. Pick Your Strain Or Your Pain

Just like choosing snacks, or the dreaded dinner menu – picking the right strain for edibles really does depend on what you’re in the mood for, and what ales you too.

Also, what kind of social situation are you planning?

A good question to ask yourself is: ” Daytime vibes, or evening chill?”.

Weed does impact everyone differently, but the general rule of pot is that a Sativa blend gives you energy, and an Indica strain is best for sleep, rest, and relaxation.

So if you want to get up, get ‘er done, and rock your list of tasks today think about Sour Diesel or Lemon Skunk when you go to your dispensary.

But if you’re looking for something to chill out with while Netflix is running in the background, grab strains like Bubba Kush or Grandaddy Purple.

2. Decarboxylation

There’s most definitely a reason why marijuana is smoked more than eaten.

But, when done properly through decarbing, you can create edibles at home that will rock your world.

Without heating it in the oven (decarboxylation), you won’t activate the THC – the psychoactive ingredients that get you high.

And you most definitely can not just sprinkle raw weed into a recipe. That will cause a few problems and won’t evenly spread the cannabis around, resulting in either one edible with nothing in it, and another one from the same batch with too much in it.

Your experience will be altered in a negative way, and nobody wants that!

Starting off your edible journey properly, is the key to long-term success as a budding Canna Chef.

3. Weed Infusions

With a major step accomplished and out of the way, you can now use your decarbed cannabis to create weed-infusions.

You can enjoy making Cannabis butter which is superbly versatile in hundreds of weed edible dishes!

So if you want to make weed edibles, then this would be one of the best tips you could use.

4. Dosing and Calculations

This is by far, one of the most challenging parts of using weed in your edibles.

Overdosing is awful, and under-dosing leaves you feeling disappointed with all of your hard work gone to waste.

There are a few things you’ll need to know about the cannabis bud you’re using to make edibles.

Firstly, what is the percentage of THC in the flower you’re cooking with? This information should be available to you if you are using dispensary bud.

Make sure you write that number down.

Secondly, weigh out your cannabis flower in grams. The next step is to find out how many milligrams of THC is in a gram, which requires converting your flower weight into milligrams.

Follow the formulas below:

1 gram of flower = 1000 milligrams

Let’s say you have one gram of flower that’s 18 percent THC. Follow this calculation to determine the amount of milligrams of THC:

1000mg X 18% = 180mg THC

You can also use a dosage calculator to help you figure it all out.

5. Marijuana-Mistakes

Mistakes are going to happen, especially if math isn’t your strong suit when calculating dosages.

If you consume way too much of your weed edible, don’t worry and don’t panic.

One of the things you should not play around with is crossfading. This means to consume a variety of altering substances like alcohol.

Leave that for another time until you get things down.

The British Journal of Pharmacology noted that you may be able to curb your high by consuming pistachios or pine nuts!

It’s because they contain pinene, which is a terpene or chemical that helps with mental clarity and focus.

Another trick to try is eating citrus like lemons, oranges – because the citrus is helpful due to it’s natural terpenes as well.

6. Getting Comfortable With Cooking

Getting comfortable with cooking is one of the main ingredients when making weed edibles.

If you’re not sure where to start, then start small and work your way up.

Make cookies and brownies first, and perfect the art of decarbing your weed.

If you feel like you just can’t get it, and you need professional support then consider booking an appointment with a professional Cannabis Chef! (yes, this is now a ‘thing’!)

Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the process – mistakes and all!
