CBD Oil in California|Updated Guidelines – What You Need To Know!

The Golden State is known for a lot of things, and it is without a doubt a paradise for cannabis lovers and users alike.

From LA, San Diego, the Valley and the Coast – you can find quality CBD oil just about everywhere.

In sunny Cali the cannabis industry is thriving and is one of the most liberal states in the United States.

California was the first state to legalize medical marijuana in 1996, when the Compassionate Use Act was passed.

Following that, Cali passed a state law called: The Adult Use of Marijuana Act.

So yes, CBD Oil is 100% legal. Even CBD sourced from the female cannabis plant is considered legal.

The recreational use of marijuana has been legal since 2018, and the newest legislation allows possession, cultivation, sales and production of cannabis as well as marijuana-infused products!

Just to be clear though, the state of California and the Federal definition of CBD remains the same.

Adding industrial hemp to food products is currently prohibited. So CBD products aren’t approved as food, a food additive, ingredient or dietary supplement.

The California Industrial Hemp Farming Act

The act, otherwise known as SB 566 authorized the commercial production of industrial hemp in 2017.

You can possess CBD oil in Cali, and there are no specific possession limits.

Whether you have a prescription or not, you can use what you want!

The only concern should be making sure you get good quality, third-party, lab-tested CBD oil!

CBD Broad Spectrum or CBD Isolate, which contain zero traces of CBD are your best buds here.

Broad Spectrum simply means that there is zero THC ( the psychoactive compound that gets you ‘high’) and some terpenes are not extracted.

Terpenes are natural chemicals found on the cannabis plant responsible for aroma and taste like limonene (lemon) and myrcene – which can be found in hops and has a peppery, spicy, balsam fragrance – like in beer!

They can make edibles taste wonderful, especially when you’re cooking.

CBD Isolate is CBD in it’s purest form, without any terpenes extracted whatsoever.

How Can CBD Help Your Wellness?

Hand on stomach

CBD may help in one or more of the following health challenges or conditions:

  • Chronic pain, seizures, severe nausea, and acute or persistent muscle spasms.
  • Hepatitis C
  • Glaucoma
  • Immune deficiency syndrome
  • Positive status for HIV
  • Crohn’s disease
  • and more.

What about Traveling Across States With CBD?

The type of CBD oil that’s derived from hemp oil is what’s legal at a federal level (as of the 2018 Farm Bill) and therefore allowed to be taken across state borders, and, yes, on flights.

So while California is lax when it comes to in-State regulations, be careful when traveling out-of-state.

According to the research, you’ll need to make sure the THC percentage is below 0.3 % when going out of state.

Can I Order CBD Gummies From Another State?

According to the laws, If the THC percentage is below 0.3 percent, it is ok to order CBD from any other U.S state, because it falls under the “hemp” category.

  • Use your hands ( get in there!) and mix it all up until every last piece of oat is mixed and you form a large ball in the middle of the bowl
  • Take a soup spoon and scoop out the mixture, roll it in your palms until it’s a perfectly shaped ball
  • Place the finished balls into a large container separated by parchment paper (so they don’t stick)
