Cannabis And Menopause: Does It Help?

You may be experiencing hot flashes, irritability, irregular periods and more – so today we’re exploring Cannabis And Menopause.

Have you met someone who swears that cannabis has made her feel so much better?

Trust me – there are plenty!

Maybe you’ve even been experimenting yourself and have noticed some positive results.

But here’s the big question:

Does Cannabis Really Help With Menopause?

Or is it all just a result or wishful thinking and false hopes of finally, one day feeling a little closer to normal?

How Cannabis Works

This is especially interesting for anyone who loves science and anatomy.

We all have an endocannabinoid system with cell receptors throughout our bodies that help maintain homeostasis. – aka: normality. (what’s that?!)

There are 113 cannabinoids found in marijuana and hemp flowers and these little cannabinoids attach to cell receptors making a pretty awesome relationship.

cannabinoid chemical compounds

But the bonus for you? It helps maintain homeostasis and may help reduce menopausal symptoms.

The thing is, we’re all still learning about how cannabis works in the human body however, preliminary research looks promising for a number of issues associated with perimenopause and the post-menopause years.

Cannabis For Hot Flashes?

Someone tell me that all I need is a little regular cannabis and my hot flashes will go away!?

THC can mimic some aspects of anandamide, an endocannabinoid that helps regulate body temperature. It’s often referred to as the bliss molecule.

Having a hot flash? A little bliss would be nice, right!?

Many women have reported that using cannabis on a regular basis (whether it’s CBD or THC) helped reduce anxiety and helped regulate body temperature – lessening those pesky hot flashes.

Of course, more research needs to be conducted, but the proof is literally in the proverbial pudding!

What Cannabis Products Are The Best For Menopause?

Doctors generally don’t recommend smoking or vaping cannabis because that can damage your respiratory system.

Infused food and drinks (edibles), tinctures (liquids in a dropper), or sublingual tabs (take them under your tongue), are generally considered safer for ingestion.

Sublingual & Capsules

Your body distributes cannabinoids from sublinguals, directly into the digestive system and can get to work right away.

Capsules are great for on-the-go wellness, and can be super convenient too!

Of course, cannabis-infused edibles are a great way to consume daily cannabis and help with menopause.

Let us know in the comments below what your experience is with menopause, and if cannabis had a positive effect in decreasing some of the effects!
