Let’s get real here – we’ve all tried different recovery drinks to help feel better right? But have you tried a Cannabis Recovery Drink Recipe before?
Major companies are advertising on every social platform and it seems like every athlete endorses one recovery drink or another promising the benefits and best recovery because of their electrolyte content.
Recovery drinks on the market today do actually contain small amounts of electrolytes like sodium, but they also contain highly processed sugars and artificial food colouring doing your body a lot more harm than good.
What exactly is an electrolyte and why is it important for us, as well as athletes, to be aware of?
In the world of health and wellness, the word electrolyte is used to explain the way minerals are absorbed into our bodies.
The most important ones are sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphate and magnesium.
When we work out we sweat, and in that sweat, we excrete water that contains .. you guessed it.. electrolytes! So we have to replenish them to prevent getting sick, passing out, or being dehydrated.
The best way to get them is not through overly-marketed, super sugary drinks.
If you’re active or like to be, when you’re working out, hiking, walking, etc – you will inevitably get sore – this is just another word for inflammation.
Adding a cannabis infusion to your recovery drink will help speed up recovery and give you a beautiful body high relaxing you after you’ve worked out!
You can most definitely make this drink with a cannabis tincture.
Tinctures are extracts made by soaking cannabis in a solvent like alcohol.
The liquid pulls out the active compound in the plants, dissolving them and concentrating them.
How cool is that?
Cucumbers – made up of mostly water, it’s one of the most hydrating food on the planet! It helps soothe your skin from the inside out, and they contain high amounts of potassium.
Oranges – of course, we all know by now that oranges are a great source of vitamin C, but they also have electrolytes such as calcium and potassium.
On top of that, they have the very beneficial limonene terpene which may help as an anti-depressant and antioxidant.
Lemons – the sunshine fruit – and no wonder! Lemons have a ton of electrolytes, they’re hydrating, and help circulation too!
Spinach – super high in potassium and magnesium.
Ginger – spicy and one of the best plants to eat after a workout to prevent muscle soreness and inflammation.
Salt – helps regulate bodily fluids and helps our cells absorb beneficial nutrients.
Sugar – promotes insulin levels
Cayenne Pepper – loaded with antioxidants!
Coconut Water – it’s the ultimate hydration drink!
Enjoy making this refreshing and replenishing drink! You can freeze it if you like, and dethaw it about 10 -15 minutes before you want to enjoy it.
