There is a huge and interesting difference between these two strains and they’ve probably been a part of every cannabis-related decision you’ve ever made! It absolutely matters, and if you’re a beginner or a ‘highly’ experienced cannabis user, the first question you probably ask yourself is:
Choosing between the body high of Indica, or the fantastic energy rush of Sativa will change the way you feel, so choosing your high is entirely dependant on the strain you pick!
If you need an utterly relaxed chill out day where you veg out on the couch? There’s a strain for that! And if you’re in the mood for a pick-me-up where your energy is beautiful and high, you guessed it! There’s a strain for that too!
Marijuana Growers use these terms to categorize the plants based on the way they look and grow, as well as their chemical profiles, and they’ve been around since the mid-1700s.
Here are some interesting Canna-facts.
But how are these strains used? And why does it matter? Today’s Cannabis growers and cultivators use the terms to separate plants into Indica and Sativa categories according to their growth traits and physical makeup. It helps not only the growers but the retailers and consumers too!
The main difference between the two strains is that Indica plants grow short with thick stems and big deep-green leaves. They have shorter flowering cycles and grow just fine in colder, short-season climates. (think Canada)
What’s more interesting and unique is that Sativa plants have longer flowering cycles, do much better in warm climates with long seasons, and usually grow taller with light-green, thin leaves.
Sativas are sometimes described as cerebral, uplifting, and energizing. Indica’s are often meant to relax, soothe, or sedate. Another term used for this is “couchlock” – where you can’t get off the couch and you feel a full-body buzz. Yes, please!
How do they change your hight? And what effects will you have? The effects you experience from a particular cannabis strain are actually based on their specific set of compounds — or to be a little more clear: the cannabinoids and terpenes. Terpenes are the compounds responsible for a plant’s flavors and aromas and greatly influence the effect a cannabis plant will produce!
Just remember that everyone’s body reacts differently, and you may not always get what you wanted so we suggesting being Canna-curious and patient!
Do you want to feel chill and relaxed, or do you fancy feeling energized and uplifted? The fun part is exploring and experimenting safely so you can tell the difference and choose the strain for you.
