A cannabis tincture is an alcoholic cannabis concentrate. This concentrate is usually stored in a small bottle with a dropper. This is to ensure accuracy when dosing. Cannabis infused tinctures can be taken orally, or they can be used to create cannabis sugar and beverages. A busy schedule doesn’t always allow for a full cannabis extraction process. Like a ready-made meal, this is a quick and easy way to make a medicinal tincture extraction.
Typically, a weed tincture takes weeks to infuse. This process involves the slow marriage of cannabis with high proof alcohol. This method gives your tincture a higher potency. It also enables you to strip all THC and CBD from your plant material up to a 100%. Not to worry, this faster method allows you to strip all of the material while saving time! A lot of time, that is. Start to finish, this recipe is designed to take only one hour!
Of course, whether or not you use a cannabis tincture, smoke weed, or dab is all about personal preference. If you’re wondering what the benefits of using a tincture might be, let us lay out some information for you. Firstly, tinctures are a lot less hassle once they are ready to be used. The compact storage and mobility of a tincture makes it an easier method of consuming cannabis. Secondly, due to the dropper, it is much easier to regulate how much of the infusion you are taking. Lastly, when you administer the tincture sublingually, the infusion reaches the brain rapidly. Thusly, you can achieve your ultimate goal a lot faster.
Follow these simple steps on how to make your tincture. Remember, you can use this tincture to make cannabis sugar or any other weed edible. Once your tincture is ready, it is time to make some weed edible recipes from it. Click here to see our cannabis cookbook for more than 50 recipes and infusions!

What can you use in place of a rice cooker?
I have used a small or mini crock pot, It works well on low setting. 2 to 4 hours reduces it to about 1/2
You guys aren’t paying attention. It’s getting decarbed in the rice cooker.
No it has to be decarbed in the oven 1st
I decarb my cannabis before I put it into the everclear. Been doing it like this for many years and it works the best.
What does that mean.
The rate of Decarboxylation and extraction are different so you may not get maximum THC from the plant material. You should start of with the plant material already decarboxylated. It makes more sense from a chemists perception.
It’s not getting decarbed in the Rice cooker. It litterally says decarbed cannabis in the recipe, do that BEFORE!
What exactly is “decarbed”?
It is the process to convert THCA/CBDA the activated THC/CBD
Actually Solis93… no. The recipe calls for DECARBED CANNABIS. This is an entirely separate process and specific to the cannabis itself and not the tincture. A rice cooker is not reliable for consistent temp nor a high enough temp to decarb the cannabis and the entire purpose of the rice cooker is merely to evaporate some of the alcohol at an increased temperature. You are not able to decarb cannabis when it is already in a tincture.
Can an instapot be used?
I’m sorry I’m kind of confused. You say to add it to the cooker, and then add more. Can you elaborate? How long should it sit in cooler without burning your potency?
Add 1 cup evenclear to cannabis. Strain the evenclear into the cooker.
Add another cup everclesr to the cannabis, strain again in the cooker.
At this point all everclear is in the cooker. And you can start cooking off the alcohol like in the video.
How long do you cook your solvent in the rice cooker? I set it to low…should I expect at least an hour?
What if I only want to use 7 or 14 grams. Do I still use the same amount of alcohol ?
If you use 1/2 oz use 1 cup ever clear
If 1/4 go to 1/2 cup alcohol
Yes
So much coent on how to do… Just read everything is clear.. 😣
Can the same thing be done in a crock pot?.
Yes, but safety is important.
Alcohol is obviously highly flammable.
Do not do it on the stove, and do it outside. Far away from any sparks.
my tincture is green and making my candy green – is this normal? How can I make the candy without making it green
Buy a Buckner funnel best filtering in the world
You can put the bottle of ever clear in the freezer, de-carb your bud and cover with cold everclear in a jar with a lid and keep it in the freezer, shaking it a couple times a day for 3 days then strain and cook off half of the mixture. The freezer allows for less chlorophyll to escape the plant matter, then your tincture will be amber colored not green
I never cook mine, I just shake and put in freezer. Its strong
Can I make this using distillate or RSO instead of the plant? If so how much should I use with two cups of alcohol?
Do I have to cook it or can I just let it evaporate?
You can let it evaporate.
It will take much longer but is absolutetly an option. Simply jar it and leave it for a week.
Cannabis must be decarbed first to activate the THC. 250F for 30 minutes works well.
I have been making and using cannabis tinctures for several years to combat muscle spasms.
I have made dozens of batches and have tried many recipes and have found a 20 minute soak is all that’s needed, no heat. I no longer break up the flowers nor remove the sugar leaves, just 30 min in the oven at 250F, wrap in a coffee filter place in jar with 190 proof alcohol and within 20 minutes it’s good to go. I use 2 grams flower per 1 oz alcohol.
I do allow it to soak for days until it’s used up which pulls out more wax and chlorophyll and gives a deeper taste but no significant increase in effects.
In California, I can only find 120 Proof Everclear. How does this lower-proof alcohol extend extraction?
Thank you for this alternative. I was a bit apprehensive about the cooking part.
Is there any other things I should know about your method? Measurements? Technique?
I have a bag of CBD Bud. But I was also given a jar of thick molasses type stuff. I am trying to figure out how to use that? And exactly what it is considered when trying to find recipes. Is that tincture? I know the guy I got it from said they use it by diluting it 1-40 in making products but not really sure what i am doing.
Can you please tell me how many oz’s you are putting in the jar? Thanks so much love the easiness of ur recipe I am so disabled I can’t be mixing up the leaves and stuff! Leah
Every tincture recipe I’ve seen calls for decarbing the flower first.
I don’t see that called out here.
Is that needed? Or does it just make it stronger?
Made some with only 5g and got 1cup… it’s good just not as strong as I’d like.
I’m going to try again with Decarbing and more flower.
Cheers!
shake the hell out of it
You decarb the weed to turn the THCA into the active ingredient THC otherwise you are wasting weed
How come the weed was not decarboxalyated?
How much plant material is needed for the amount of 2800mg in this recipe?
How about a recipe for tincture using Vegetable Glycerine?
I think we need to know how much material to start with to get the 2800mg. In one cup. I usually start with an ounce. Then get four cups. I use a machine that separates it quick. I use one full cup of the alcohol and low boil the alcohol off and use it in about 40 candies. I think if my weed is 23%, would my mg per dose be 23mg? That’s a pretty heavy irie with lemon cookie .
If you have 28 grams of weed at a potency of 23%, you can extract at most 6,440 mg of THC. Your final yield will determine the potency of your extract. If your yield evenly distributes among 40 candles, you will have 161 mg of THC per candle. Of course, this assumes your process is 100% efficient.
Can you use a slow cooker if you don’t have a rice cooker?
New to this. Do you use decarboxylated marijuana for tincture or is that process not needed?
You need to decarb first.
Yes. Up at the top it recommends 1 Ounce Cannabis decarbed as one of the ingredients.
What is the “solvent”?
Everclear or something close to it will wonder just fine.
How much plant matter do you start with?
Riley, you can use as much or as little as you like.
What amount would you recommend? Do you use trim, shake or flower?
